Haden M. Smith
Haden, a lifelong St. Louisan, grew up in South County and attended public schools in Affton, St. Louis City, and Kirkwood. He earned an Associate in Arts degree from St. Louis Community College-Meramec before transferring to Webster University, where he completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology with a minor in history and political science. Haden then attended Saint Louis University School of Law, where he earned a Juris Doctor degree and Certificate in Employment Law.
A former Missouri State Public Defender, Haden has fought for hundreds of criminal defendants at all stages of the litigation process, up to and including trial. Since entering private practice, he has also represented individuals and small businesses on matters related to landlord-tenant, family, employment, and personal injury law. Additionally, he has contracted with outside firms to provide electronic discovery and trial preparation services to corporate clients.
In addition to pursuing his law practice, Haden is currently working toward a Master of Arts degree in Urban Planning and Real Estate Development at the Saint Louis University Center for Sustainability. He is a regular contributor to the Southside Safety Group, a coalition of elected officials, police officers, and private citizens dedicated to preserving neighborhood security in the 11th Ward. He also serves on the Economic Development Committee for the Carondelet Community Betterment Federation. Haden lives with his wife in the historic Patch neighborhood of South City. He is a St. Louis baseball history buff and Billiken basketball season ticket holder.
